Marla obtained her master’s degree in Immunology and Microbiology at the ETH Zürich in 2022. After completing her thesis on antibiotic resistance spread between different bacterial species in Wolf-Dietrich Hardt’s lab, Marla joined Bärbel Stecher’s lab as a PhD candidate. She now focusses on phage-bacteria interactions to address the potential of phages as a tool to specifically target and replace bacterial strains within complex microbiomes like the human gut.
Fun fact: She likes outdoor activities and tends to play “timeguessr” to kill time (can recommend).
