Éva earned her BSc and MSc in Microbiology and Molecular Biology from the University of Szeged, Hungary. As she gained interest in microbiome research, she decided to pursue a PhD at the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research in Braunschweig, Germany studying the interactions between gut pathogens and commensals using CRISPR-based gene editing tools. Currently, Éva is a postdoctoral researcher in the Stecher group, where she works on developing synthetic biology tools to study colonization resistance in the human gut microbiota.
Fun fact: In her free time, Éva enjoys cooking, learning new languages and watching old movies.
