This project will extend the current capabilities of ProteomicsDB towards an improved understanding and enhanced extraction of identification and quantification data from mass spectrometry-based proteomics experiments. Such capabilities will serve as the foundation for the Multi-Omics and Drug Sensitivity/Resistance projects. This project provides the basis for a complete analysis pipeline inside HANA, making use of measurements, which were performed during earlier experiments.
One part of this project is the development of tools to enable researchers to build spectrum libraries for data dependent (DDA) and data independent (DIA) data analysis by aggregating the huge number of experimental and synthetic peptide spectra (www.proteometools.org, Peptide fragmentation prediction project) stored in ProteomicsDB.
A long-term vision for this project is to stream data directly into HANA, enabling ProteomicsDB to search and annotate data directly from a mass spectrometer. Additionally, such a system could handle the data acquisition, guiding the mass spectrometer to the most interesting signals and discard other signals, which are very likely duplicate measurements of already observed peptides or proteins.
