Welcome at the Chair of Infection Pathogenesis

Our group investigates how hosts, microbes and parasites interact, with a focus on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that shape immune responses during infection. Using the pig as a translational biomedical model, we study mucosal and developmental immunity, vaccine responses, and host-pathogen communication in both parasitic and non-parasitic infections. One key area of our work is understanding how gastrointestinal helminths modulate the immune system and identifying molecular targets for novel diagnostics, vaccines, and therapeutics. By integrating immunology, infection biology, and systems-level approaches, we aim to uncover new strategies to prevent and control infectious diseases in both human and animal health.
