MEM-Artikel schafft es auf die Titelseite von Molecular Metabolism
In der Ausgabe "Show me your brown fat" (Vol. 20, Feb. 2019) konnte der Artikel "A dual Ucp1 reporter mouse model for imaging and quantitation of brown and brite fat recruitment" veröffentlicht werden. Diese Publikation ist ein wichtiger Meilenstein für die Forschungsagenda des Lehrstuhls. Das neue Mausmodell ist aus verschiedenen Gründen sehr wertvoll:
- Ein bisher unbekanntes Braunes Fettgewebe Depot konnte erstmals beschrieben werden.
- Geschlechtsspezifische Unterschiede der Ucp1 Genexpression konnten in den perigonadalen Fettgeweben nachgewiesen werden und
- ein Aktivator der Ucp1-Genexpression konnte identifiziert werden.

Brown adipose tissue (BAT) and its metabolic function is the main topic in this new handbook. The book provides an update on the latest research. BAT dissipates energy and might offer a target for novel therapies to address obesity, a health condition that has reached pandemic dimensions.
